Servier Medical Art is now licensed under Creative Commons

Servier has announced the broadening of the terms of use of its medical image bank Servier Medical Art, launched in 2005. This service is now available under the most accommodating of the Creative Commons licenses: CC-BY.

Servier Medical Art is a collection of 3000 free medical vector images which can be used to illustrate presentations, publications, printed documents, or web sites. Such images have been designed to be easily combined together to provide unlimited possibilities of illustrations.

Olivier Gryson, Head of the Electronic Information Department declared: “By choosing to license this image bank under Creative Commons, we offer this free medical and scientific service to the whole community, without restriction”.

The Creative Commons CC-BY license lets you distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon this medical service, even commercially, as long as you credit Servier for the original creation (ie: “adapted from Servier Medical Art”).

For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the license terms of these images.
